    for gpus 250-500 historically should match whatever the consoles have access to. Devs on the PS5 have access to about 12.5, so 12 should be the average with 16 recommended long term. Always keep the console dev vram access in mind when buying gpus for long term decisions as it will save you headaches few years down the line, and why if you're spending money on a gpu post 2020, it should NOT have been on a 8gb card unless its sub 200$ as it is going to age like milk. Some people don't take that into consideration when buying a gpu, especially around a console release window

    I can't believe how easy Steve is going on Intel, the fact that Intel's high end CPUs are now false advertising and Fraud. They literally can't do what they're advertised to do (with current BIOS, or even worse a degraded chip). Heck they could barely do what they were advertised to do when they first came out and thermal throttled in seconds. Of course the performance profile is a scape-goat.

    Everyone talking about how bad the 4060 was at $400 for 8GB, but I think the 4070Ti at $800 for 12GB is far, far worse. Imagine spending $800 and you have to turn textures down after only a year, and turning DLSS and/or RT on gets you stutters. Yikes. Also, just got my 7800XT today, upgrading from an RX 5700 8GB. What a time to make a VRAM video! :)

    What about 3080? Only 10gb but big memory bus and bandwidth. Still runs good thanks to what i mentioned but i am pretty sure lack of headroom will make all that power a waste😢

    You should start recommending people avoid this market and find new hobbies. AMD GPUs always have caveats and Nvidia has their head so far up their own ass they think 192 bit BUS is ok for a $1000AUD+ product. Intel doesn't count don't even pretend they do at this point in time.

    Good effort but something I noticed that's always missing from benchmarks is how the CPU is performing relative to its own model number. And it's a bit surprising how that info is never in videos at all. It can be retrieved relatively accurately using Passmark, test the CPU, report its percentile, and show us how it compares with its siblings. That shines a better light on the results we're seeing. For example, if the 5800x is in the 50th percentile compared to other 5800x CPUs while the 13600 is 20th percentile, then the comparison isn't really that valid because it's the top 20% of one model against the top 50% of another.

    Watch Nvidia drop 50xx series with increased VRAM after warming up the consumers for 1,5 years. While deciding if I should get a 4070Ti (12G) for €600+ or 4070TiS (16G) for €700+, I noticed how all the panic about 10 or even 12 gigabytes of VRAM started about a year ago after some already forgotten AAA slop wasn't optimized at all. Come on people, future games would sooner make your GPU obsolete, rather than eat 10+ GB VRAM at 1080p. And even if your chip doesn't become incapable of keeping up, there are hundreds of game y'all haven't played, which don't require you to overpay for some mithycal future proofing, especially since we see uplifts like said 4070 ti being better than a funny 3090.

  • @OCX600RR
    @OCX600RR 9 часов назад

    I seriously hope there will be a 5060 Ti 16GB. With GDDR7, it could actually have similar bandwidth to a 3070. In general though, I hope Nvidia does a refresh of the 5000 Series with the denser 3GB VRAM chips, enabling 12GB 128-bit, 18GB 192-bit, 24GB 256-bit, etc... One can dream I guess.

    I'd say for a 50 class card 8gb is ok but other than that I'd say 12gb at the minimum.. I'm happy I went with a rtx 3060 12gb it has served me well plan to upgrade soon maybe get me an amd card this time around cuz the 5000 series looks like crap other than the 5090 but anyone that pays over $2000 just on a gpu to play games has issues but if that gpu is making you money then I can see that

    So happy that when i bought my 3080, i got the 12gb model. Sure, it's no longer ideal, but it does allow me to play with the settings i want. Hopefully, the 5080 is armed with 16gb at least. And yeah reddit is super butt hurt about 8gb still. They are seriously copping with thimking its still fine. Unless gddr7 is really that much better than gddr6x that allows 8gb to remain relevent i just dont see 8gb being used unless for entry level cards only. And even then its basiczlly ewaste that people should steer clear of.

    Can't complain about LoDs and pop-in when it results in stable and good FPS. People who own low end systems/GPUs are well aware that decreasing settings means decreasing quality. Many titles cut shadows and lighting, others cut geometry and textures, or even fall back to static scene lighting. It's not right to declaim visual quality when people perhaps can't afford a system with enough VRAM (not saying this angrily). Rather we need to view this as a double edged issue. Developers need to implement more LoDs and fallback techniques. People should be able to use high res with low quality. At the same time, GPU vendors need to sell minimum of 12 GB on anything mid-range or higher (AMD and Intel have done this, so Nvidia has no excuse, especially with their margins). The point of most interest and crossover is the conjunction between new games with ultra modern rendering and effects vs modern new-release GPUs. It's a chicken and egg scenario where a dev can release a title that requires more resources at the low end than can be handled, even as a vendor releases a GPU that's new. It's kind of funny in some ways, as the developer may have just released a game that nobody can play. It's just as inexcusable for GPU vendors, when they already know that the majority of games will suffer performance degradation, to release hardware that's effectively from a different era. I would say that hardware vendors ought to expect acceptable performance for 3 years on their hardware, with the base specs being able to run all current titles at a given quality setting and resolution, and titles in 3-4 years at reduced settings.

    My good old 1080 Ti is starting to struggle quite a bit at 1440p for newish games. Even lowing the settings and turning on FSR, it still struggles to hit the 60fps mark or anywhere close to that figure. With the new 5000 series at least 6 months or so away, I'm considering going for something a little more modern that can hold 60fps with high to ultra settings. AMD's FSR upscaling is still pretty bad with inferior image quality, especially when it comes to shimmering, ghosting movements and noises when compared to DLSS. A bit of ray tracing is nice to have on as well, along with Topaz video/photo upscaling that I use, which is why I prefer a Nvidia card. I don't want to spend too much, as GPU prices in Australia is already ridiculous as it is. The 4070 Super can be found for $1000 here. I attend to keep it for at least maybe a year or so or even longer if it can maintain decent performance (60fps) for upcoming titles, especially the Unreal Engine 5 ones. My two monitors are only 60hz so it doesn't have to push crazy high 144fps. Is it a good upgrade from my current card? Happy to hear others input/opinions or suggestions. For reference my current setup 13900k 32GB Ram 5600mhz 1080 Ti ASUS TUF Gaming 1000W

    I'm not letting go of my 6700 XT anytime soon. My next PC could actually be a Steam Deck 2.

    I have a 16GB MSI 6800 XT running at 1440p. It was released in October 2020. When I bought it new in January 2021 there were games then that maxed out the VRAM. More, and more games are maxing out the VRAM as well. I can go beyond overkill on system RAM, but VRAM has been perpetually in "short supply" sicne the onset of personal computing. In fact the #1 reason I go with AMD GPUs is because they have more VRAM than NVIDIA at/near the same price point. I don't care for Ray Tracing. Yes, I know AMD struggles with RT but NVIDIA GPUs barely hold it together on their own. In fact much of technology that we take for granted today, such as antialiasing, anisotropic filtering, (and others) used to be huge resource hogs as well when they were very first implemented. It took several generations before those features had little or no impact as we see today. RT is a resource hog and needs several more years to cook before it reaches performance parity. Those other features we take for granted didn't take this long to achieve stable performance.
